"Boy with Purse" Kids think they have it rough these days! Back in the
mid 1800's boys wore dresses and their moms loved to dress them like
girls. This little fellow in this 1/6 plate is even holding a purse. You
can see by the blur that he moved. He was probably ready to throw that
purse at the daguerreotypist who was shooting the picture. Notice that
he is standing on a chair next to a pillar. There was no flash bulbs
back in the mid 1800's so the lighting came from a window or skylight.
